Getting a chance to learn anything new always excites me. So when I was offered a chance to learn a language, which I was not aware of, I instantly grabbed the opportunity with both my hands. The language to be learned was none other than Deutsh that is German. The language spoken in Germany. The country of legendary and iconic, Adolf Hitler, BMW, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Beethoven, Mozart, Siemens, Albert Einstein, and many more. Although at first the idea did excite me but then I realized that it was not an easy task as this required that I put in a lot of effort. Yet, I decided to go for it and give it a chance. After this was worth taking all the pains. And the most important part was that, this language was going to be taught by one of my cousins, who wanted to do this for making us gain some knowledge about Deutsch and Deutschland.
The language of any country has a unique significance in its culture. The language, with its similarity in the way it’s spoken, binds the people of a country together. The way through which you can express your ideas, your views, in front of others. Besides, Awareness about more languages makes you more competitive in the job market, because then you tend to have this Unique selling proposition of yours that others, probably don’t.
To learn something new and that too learn a language is always a tough task. After all, this requires you to be diligent and determined. Well, I started off with quite enthusiasm in my task. The very first day my cousin briefed me about the way we would be proceed, that is, the entire plan. He said his effort would be to make me well versed in that language and if that does not work out, he said he would make sure that I receive at least elementary knowledge of the same. So, it commenced as planned. I made quite an applaudable start and on the very first day and learnt to greet in German. “Guten Morgan” which meant good morning, “Guten Abend” meaning good evening, “Gute nacht” meaning good night and several other words, which were used by Germans to greet others.
In the next class I was taught about to read some specific German letters and words. They had their own way of being pronounced in Deutsch. This was followed by counting. He taught me to write in words, any number, in German. Starting from “Null” that is zero to “Zwanzig” that is twenty; I was made to mug up the entire series. And then only on the basis of this series and some other simple rules I was able to write almost any number in German. It was really fun be able to do this.
Next in line was “Farben” meaning colors. He taught me several colors such as pink, green, red, white, black and so on. Also, he made me to learn some simple lines to be spoken in German. We were going great but to our utter dismay, we had to discontinue as he had to leave for his job at a short notice. But we made a pact that we will get back to this, next time when he is home.
